(New York, NY) – Today, following the firing of Mark Peters at the Department of Investigation (DOI), Comptroller Stringer released the following statement:
“Given the changes at the Department of Investigation, I’ve asked the Mayor to review the contract for DOI’s lavish new office space and explore all options. Under Mark Peters, DOI pushed for this office space and DCAS failed to answer basic questions about why it needed a $350 million waterfront office that would require exorbitant remodeling, especially since the existing DOI lease has many years remaining. Following today’s change of leadership, there’s even more reason to question the soundness of the deal and there’s no reason to continue with this boondoggle. It is our understanding that the Mayor’s office is reviewing this contract and I thank them for their attention to this matter.”
