Singapore, 14 October 2004... Monetary Authority of Singapore The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS) today launched the fourth MAS-ESS Essay Competition. The title of this year's competition is Is Our Education System Able to Meet the Challenges of Globalisation? This topic aims to examine Singapore's education system against a backdrop of rapid globalisation and assess if it is able to meet the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly integrated and competitive world.
The Essay Competition was launched to encourage wider debate on economic and policy issues in Singapore.
This year's MAS-ESS Essay Competition will run for three months beginning 14 October 2004. The following prizes will be awarded to the three best essays in the two categories:
Terms and conditions as well as entry forms for the MAS-ESS Essay Competition are available on the MAS (here ) and ESS (http://www.ess.org.sg ) websites. Hard copies can be collected from the security counter at the MAS building. The closing date for the submission of entries is 15 January 2005.
