18 July 2023 Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)

Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), was re-appointed Chair of the Asia Pacific Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) CEO Committee and member of the CANSO Executive Committee on 11 July 2023 for a new two-year term. Mr Han was first appointed Chair of the Asia Pacific CANSO CEO Committee on 19 August 2021.

2          Established in 2008, the CANSO CEO Committee for the Asia Pacific region comprises 23 air navigation service providers (ANSPs). It governs and directs the work of CANSO Asia Pacific within the framework of CANSO’s global policies and positions.

3          With Asia Pacific seeing strong recovery in air traffic after the COVID-19 pandemic, the priority for CANSO Asia Pacific is to get ANSPs to adopt a regional perspective and collaborate to accelerate the transformation of air traffic management (ATM) and support the growth of air travel.

4          The Asia Pacific CANSO CEO Committee, in consultation with all ANSPs in the region, is developing and will publish a White Paper later this year on the opportunities, challenges and priorities for the region, which will also lay out collaboration projects that the region will embark on.

5         Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS said, “I am deeply honoured to be re-appointed Chair of the Asia Pacific CANSO CEO Committee. I look forward to working with the air navigation service providers in the region to facilitate safe return to service, build capacity and capabilities in the skies, and make flying more efficient and sustainable.”

6         Mr Simon Hocquard, Director-General of CANSO said, “CANSO is grateful for Mr Han Kok Juan’s contributions as Chair of the Asia Pacific CANSO CEO Committee and congratulates him for his re-election as Chair. Under his leadership, the Asia Pacific ANSP members have embarked on various new initiatives. This included the first-ever leadership retreat to brainstorm strategic ANS matters and the Asia Pacific ATM study leading to a White Paper. This has re-energised ANSPs in the region to make further progress on regional ATM.”
