Over $200,000 was raised for the less fortunate by the aviation community on Saturday morning at the 3rd Aviation Run, which was organised by CAAS.

The Singapore aviation community showed up in full force this morning at the 3rd Aviation Run, demonstrating its generous spirit and commitment to help the less fortunate. Held at the Changi Exhibition Centre, the 3rd Aviation Run was flagged off by Guest of Honour, Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport. In her presence, Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), presented a $212,120 cheque to Mr Phillip Tan, Chairman, Community Chest.

In a show of unity, the over 2,000-strong crowd also came together to set the record for the “Largest Human Formation of an Airplane” in the Singapore Book of Records.

The Aviation Run is a key event under Aviation Community Cares. Launched in 2011 and spearheaded by CAAS, Aviation Community Cares brings the aviation community together to contribute to the society, including raising funds for the Community Chest to support the beneficiaries of its 83 charities.

“Bonded by a common passion, the Singapore aviation community is also wholly committed to giving back to society in various ways; among them, helping to improve the lives of the less fortunate. The continued and strong support for the Aviation Run in its third run this year is testament to the many generous hearts in the community,” said Mr Yap Ong Heng.
