Aviation Open House 2011 Invites All to Experience the Buzz of Aviation

Visitors will have an exclusive opportunity to learn more about the dynamic aviation industry

Collaborating with more than 40 companies and education institutions, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is organising its second Aviation Open House (AOH). To be held at D'Marquee at Downtown East from 3 - 5 November 2011, AOH 2011 will showcase the multi-faceted aviation industry and present the career, education and training opportunities available. More than 8,000 people are expected to visit the Open House over the three days.

Held in a special year when Singapore is celebrating 100 years of aviation, the Aviation Open House 2011 aims to ignite young Singaporeans' passion for aviation. It will give them a comprehensive panorama of the many exciting and rewarding opportunities provided by the aviation industry, and allow them to experience the buzz of aviation. With its manpower demands set to increase further, encouraging young Singaporeans to join the industry is essential to developing and sustaining the talent and human resource pool for the industry’s further growth, said Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General, CAAS.

Showcasing the diversity of the aviation ecosystem

A range of booths and displays are on show at AOH 2011. From theSingapore Aviation Centennialmulti-media display, which includes the winning entries of the Aviation Inspirations photography competition, to theAOH Central Exhibitionitself, visitors can gain a better appreciation of the aviation ecosystem and the important role that each sector plays.

Discovering career, education and training opportunities in aviation

At the Career Exhibition, visitors can find out more about the jobs and professions in aviation. They can even speak with industry professionals to get a better understanding of the expectations and requirements. A series of Career Talks will also offer visitors a unique platform to hear first-hand accounts from industry experts of their personal experiences and the exciting facets and challenges of their work.

Fun-filled activities for the family

Special highlights of AOH 2011 include flight training simulators where visitors can 'fly' their own aircraft in a simulated cockpit environment, and indoor kite-flying workshops. In addition, eight aviation-themed game booths, ranging from puzzle boards to Wii flying games, will test the dexterity and coordination of participants.
